Tips for Dealing with Severe Period Cramps

Dealing with severe period cramps is not fun. Chances are you end up missing out on some activities that you wanted to do but cannot physically do because of the pain. If thats the case, lets look at some tips for dealing with severe period cramps.

* Track Your Symptoms One way to deal with your period pain is to track your symptoms over a few months so that you can get some insight into when youre getting your worst painful cramping. Plus, tracking allows you to kind of give yourself advance notice that you may have bad cramps so you can plan your day accordingly.

* Eat Right Its tempting to self-medicate with food when you are cramping and feeling tired and cranky. However, the worst thing you can do is eat packaged and prepared food that is not even real food. Instead, try to eat even more healthily because it helps with pain, and it also ensures you have the extra energy you need.

* Stay Hydrated To stay less swollen, drink more water. The average amount of water a person needs is 64 ounces, but this may depend on a variety of factors, from your weight to what you eat to where you live. The point is to stay hydrated.

* Take an OTC Anti-Inflammatory Drug Taking Aleve, Motrin, or another anti-inflammatory drug that you can quickly get at any Walmart will help a little. Do make sure its okay for you to take these drugs based on any other health issues.

* Try Essential Oils There are many essential oils that people claim helps them with their severe period cramps. All you can do is try them. Remember, dont ingest your essential oils. Youre just supposed to inhale them.

* Get Rest While its true that you should seek to get enough sleep every night and rest when you can, we all have busy lives. Before and during your period, though, especially when you are prone to bad cramping, you need to find a way to rest more.

* Use a Heating Pad Find the most comfortable place to sit: a chair, a bed, the floor whatever works for you, and apply a heating pad to your lower belly right where it hurts. It will help relieve some of the tension and pain.

* Take a Hot Bath with Epsom Salt Taking a hot bad with Epsom salt can help relax your muscles so that you dont hurt as bad.

* Talk to Your Doctor - If your pain is causing you to miss school, its essential to talk to your doctor about it. Even young women sometimes have fibroids and other conditions that can be remedied with medical care.

If you still cannot get relief from your severe period cramps after trying these ideas, dont give up. Find a new doctor. Ask your friends and family to help you find the right person to deal with it, and dont let anyone imply that you have somehow got an issue if you are having problems dealing with it.
